How can I remove a new piercing without my hole closing?

I am planning on getting "snake bite" piercings in my bottom lip, but I have several commitments that I have to keep up which will not allow me to have them, such as a job and fraternity meetings. How can I remove the piercing without it healing? Is there something I can put in in place of a ring? I've heard of the old "piece of straw" trick, but is there any other way?
