You did well to end it! Nobody should control your life but YOU!! if a 'friend' doesn't love you for exactly who you are then they're not a true friend. friends see the good and the bad things about you and still love you for it. Anybody who wants you to change yourself for them isn't worth your time :) like you said: you have other friends, close friends so why be friends with someone who makes you feel bad??
