How do i get more food in virtual villagers?

In Virtual Villagers: New Home, im trying to figure out how to get more foods and tech points. and I really need tech points in order to get more food, because my berry tree has ran out of berries, and im running low on food, and the mushrooms my kids find around camp aren't enough. Please help me. I really need it:)
